Our Story

Why Choose Lecanto Primary School?

As a Lecanto Primary Panther, your child will learn from some of the best teachers and staff, build friendships that last, and celebrate success along the way. We focus on explicit and systematic standards-based instruction, monitoring progress through formal and informal assessments, all while making learning engaging and fun. This is what makes LPS an “A school”!

  • Book Buddies Program: Big Panthers from LHS read with our Little Panthers.
  • Super Speakers: Students participate in a Speech and Debate club.
  • High Five Fridays: Students and community groups welcome LPS students on campus as a fun way to end the week.
  • AND MORE!

Points of Pride

  • School Grade: A
  • Purple Star School of Distinction

Welcome to Lecanto Primary School! We take great pride in being home to the youngest Panthers at the Lecanto Complex and take our job very seriously! Working closely with our neighbors at Lecanto Middle and Lecanto High, we strive to build lasting relationships with our students that continue through each year of their K-12 career. As a Lecanto Primary Panther, your child will learn from some of the best teachers and staff, build friendships that last, and celebrate success along the way. We focus on explicit and systematic standards-based instruction, monitoring progress through formal and informal assessments, all while making learning engaging and fun.

Our theme this year is Incredible Starts When We Try. Our goal is to help students feel confident in taking the first step and building independence. We know that when our students try, incredible things can happen! We are ready to support our students in building confidence, reaching goals, and being the best they can be!

To stay connected, make sure to check out our Facebook page and Parent Square regularly. You will receive a weekly newsletter that contains important dates, PTO news, resources to support your child at home, and a message from me.

Lecanto Primary School is one of my favorite places to be and my goal is to make it one of your child’s favorite places too.

I am honored to be a part of the Lecanto Panther team for the 2026–2027 school year. As I begin my 20th year with Citrus County Schools, I am excited to partner with our staff, students, families, and community as we continue to uphold our tradition of excellence in learning and achievement.

While academic success is a top priority, I also believe deeply in the importance of developing strong character, leadership, and positive relationships. Together, we can create an environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and empowered to reach their full potential.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible school community and look forward to working alongside each of you to build upon the positive culture that makes Lecanto such a special place. I cannot wait to see all that we will accomplish together as one Panther team!
